Founder Of Empowered Doula Services

Alexis Alsup

A Holistic Birth Doula, Student Midwife & Placenta Specialist. Curator of The Knoxville Black Maternal Health Symposium. Member of National Black Doula Association. Member of National Black Midwife Alliance.

I am a proud native of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a graduate of Bearden High School. After becoming a Certified Birthing Doula, I further enhanced my expertise through specialized training in traditional herbal medicine for pregnancy and the postnatal period. Currently, I am pursuing my studies as a student midwife at MCU with the aim of becoming a licensed Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) in the State of Tennessee. My dedication to this path is fueled by my deep passion for providing comprehensive and holistic care to birthing individuals and their families.

My passion for being a doula is deeply rooted in serving the community that nurtured me. It was during the transformative experiences of having a doula present for my own births that I fell in love with the invaluable services doulas provide. The empowerment and lasting impact I felt were unforgettable, guiding me to dedicate myself to advocating for, supporting, and empowering women throughout their childbirth journey. As a Doula, I approach my role with humility and enthusiasm, eagerly sharing my wealth of knowledge and experiences with every family I assist.

My mission is to spread love, facilitate healing, and provide comprehensive care to families during the precious phases of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. It is my heartfelt commitment to serve families of all races, with a special emphasis on African American women who have faced disproportionate challenges during childbirth. I eagerly anticipate continuing to empower families to have the birthing experience they truly deserve.

At Empowered Doula Services, we stand firmly beside you, ready to offer unwavering support.

Our Mission:

We are dedicated to serving, educating, advocating for, and empowering expecting families.

Our core mission is to make a significant impact in reducing the rates of African American maternal and infant mortality. We achieve this by raising awareness in our community about alternative care options. While we provide support to families of all races, we recognize the existence of racial disparities and injustices faced by African Americans in healthcare.

Our ultimate objective is to equip families with a wealth of resources and prepare them for unforeseen circumstances. From conception to postpartum, we are committed to guiding families through every stage of their journey. Our primary responsibility is to serve, educate, and empower families by striving for equity in care, respecting their choices, and ensuring that their voices are heard.
